I may not have lived very long or experienced many things yet, but I have definitely learnt some things about life, from my own experiences and other people’s experiences. Most of them are obvious, I’m sure, but I like to state them anyway because it helps me deal with them better.
1.The world is a ‘cruel’ place and seems to be against us.
I don’t know if I (or anyone else) will ever understand why it is the way it is; so coarse and abrasive for some people, even those who are not necessarily “bad” people, but a smooth ride for others. Fact is, you (read everyone) will suffer, and you will hurt, and things will go wrong from time to time and happiness may seem to be painfully temporary. But sometimes there’s nothing we can do about it but accept it.
2.It gets better
So you’ve been bogged down by things, and you feel wasted. Fortunately it gets better. It always does. I think it’s the universe’s way of saying “sorry”. You’ll find that you’re happy and satisfied, even if it’s just for a while. You’ll see things working in your favour and feel fulfilled. The rain clouds roll away and the sun begins to shine. It gets better.
3.Things change and people change
Life is unpredictable, and volatile. As much as you try, you can’t stop the winds of change from blowing. Things won’t always be as you expect them to be, or as you have seen them to be. Fuel prices will rise, mortality rates will fall, all the random things you can think of do not stay constant all the time. People will act differently when you succeed or fail, you will notice that you have started doing something in a different way… It never stops.
4.If you learnt something from it, it wasn’t pointless.
Sometimes we get into sticky situations; relationships gone sour, trouble with teachers or parents, and some not so nice things happen. Yeah, it sucks but I figure that if that experience made an impact on your life, if you learnt anything at all from it, it was not meaningless. Maybe you need to be more patient with yourself, or take more risks, or stay away from a certain person or kind of person. This can then help you make better decisions in the future.
There are many more things that I could say but I shall leave it at that for now. To anyone who reads this: ‘Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place.’ ~Rumi
Head up. Stay strong. Move on.
